Is collecting stamps a good investment?

Why are not many women collecting stamps?

Maybe it has something to do with how they play as children?

Young girls collect somewhat less often than boys. But as adults, women collect stamps far less frequently than do men.

In the lists of competitive stamp exhibitors, women make up a very small percentage of Gold Medal winners, a far smaller percentage than they make up of stamp collectors in general.

Why is it that when men get older and begin to slow down a far larger portion turn to stamp collecting than do women?

Of the many aspects and benefits of the stamp collecting hobby is the desire to order dissimilar things and to make coherent sets out of disparate objects.

We could argue that women are able to satisfy their need for order in their position as head of households and don't want a hobby that will just continue this task.

Some others would say that the precise aspect of stamp identification and cataloging has a mathematical and scientific orientation that is more appealing to men of the older generation than it is to women.

And some others would say that women prefer a more active hobby that can equally give a lot of satisfaction, like gardening, or crafts in general.

You could argue some of the so called "reasons" about why there are not many woman that are stamp collectors, but the reality is one: there are very few of them, and the tendency is not changing.
